This illuminated replica of the Moon cycles through all eight lunar phases. There is an automatic mode that advances through the waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent phases, then starts over with the new moon. Any of the eight phases can be manually selected with the included remote.

The raised textured surface realistically depicts many lunar features. Such as the Mare Tranquillitatis, site of the Apollo 11 landing, the large Tycho crater, and others.

Automatically shuts off after 15 minutes if left unattended. Built-in light sensor illuminates moon when room gets dark. Includes a 15 minute audio CD provides a guided tour of the moon and a remote control.
